Date Palm Pollen: Features, Production, Extraction and Pollination Methods

Date palm pollen (DPP) plays a very important role in the fertilization process, since its viability and pollination method influence on quality, development, yield of fruit. In present study, broad review main characteristics, consumption, DPP production are presented, as well description extraction methods tests. The evolution used date is also from natural to use specialized mechanical electrical devices, dry current trend towards liquid suspension. Likewise, efficiency (wind); traditional (strands placement); dusting hand; with manual, mechanical, or electric pollinator; were evaluated fruit set percentage (FSP). Finally, starting scientometric analysis, widely discussed, concluding that spraying suspension commonly presents highest FSP, followed by motorized pollinator.
